First of all, let’s understand what is time?
The simple definition of time is the point or period when something occurs.
Time is seen from two perspectives
1.Clock Time
2.Present Time
Time is very invaluable asset in everyone’s life. Even big companies spend millions of dollars to just focus on Time Management. Hence, we can assume how valuable one second of time is for them.
Audit your time for next 7 days
At this moment set a reminder after 7 days and notice each and every hour of your time, where you spend it and note down in your journal or notes in your mobile. It is advisable to divide your 24 hours in 8 shifts of 3 hours and then note every activity you do in these 8 shifts and see how you utilized your time.
What to do after above activity?
Where did I spend my time?
How did I benefit from time spent on a particular activity?
If I did not benefit ,did I waste my time?
If I waste my time, how can I use that time to other activity?
What task am I delaying from a very of time?
What hours of time is going waste because of my bad habits?
Is my wasted time causing my family to suffer/
After asking these questions, mark in your checklist and you will get to know activities that you need to immediately stop doing and some activities that you need to start.
“Einstein” Window
Todd Dewett believes every person has an “Einstein window” – a time where you are your absolute most productive self.
While the time changes from person to person – for Dewett, it’s first thing in the morning – every person has one. And, if you want to get the absolute most out of your time, you need to protect that window.
That means two things:
Ensuring you are focusing that time on your absolute most important tasks.
Not allowing other people or technology to interrupt you during that time
How to protect your Einstein window?
Once you’ve identified your Einstein window, it isn’t enough just to do a lot of work during this time. It’s critical you do the absolute most important work, Dewett said – the work that day that will have the absolute most impact to the organization.
So spend some time each morning determining the most important work you need to accomplish that day. And then schedule to do it during your Einstein window, as that’s when you’ll do it best – meaning you’ll have the most positive impact to your organization.
